Quantum platform research hub consortium and quantum graduate schools step up talent training cooperation
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on Wednesday it held a ceremony to sign a memorandum of understanding between the Quantum Platform Research Hub Consortium and the Quantum Graduate Schools. The agreement aims to build a career development pathway for quantum talent. It focuses on helping PhD-level graduates from the quantum graduate schools accumulate research capabilities through links with government-funded research institutes\' hubs.

Korea ministry to localise general-purpose research equipment with high import reliance
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said it created a general-purpose equipment panel under the Advanced Innovation Equipment Alliance and held its first meeting. The panel will seek items used across research institutions priced below 100 million won where foreign products dominate and domestic replacements are feasible within 2 to 3 years. An analysis found several instruments had 100 percent foreign share, while others also showed high overseas dependence.

MSIT to invest 108.2 billion won in regional science and technology innovation in 2026
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on Friday it finalised its 2026 plan for regional science and technology innovation and university-research institute cooperation. The ministry will invest 108.2 billion won this year in three core programmes: regional R&D innovation support, a university-research cooperation platform and deep-tech scale-up valleys. It will allocate 89.0 billion won to regional R&D support and shift fully to a region-led R&D system.
