Kakao labor, management enter mediation over dispute on performance bonuses
Kakao’s labor and management have entered mediation at the Gyeonggi Provincial Labor Relations Commission after failing to narrow differences over the size of performance bonuses in 2026 wage talks. If mediation breaks down, the union could move toward industrial action after a member vote. The union’s requested bonus level is said to equate to about 13 to 15 percent of last year’s operating profit, or about 15 million won per employee.

Kakao launches Open Ground with Jeju centre, recruits 10 startups
Kakao said on March 23 it will recruit participants for the \'2026 JCCEI X Kakao Open Ground\' open innovation programme with the Jeju Center for Creative Economy and Innovation. The programme seeks startups that can link with Kakao and its affiliates, offering proof-of-concept projects and opportunities for commercial cooperation. Four affiliates will take part, selecting about 10 startups in fields including AI, big data, mobility, IoT, content and industry-focused SaaS.

TmaxSoft appoints Kim Kye-young as head of public sector business unit
Enterprise software company TmaxSoft said on Feb. 10 it appointed Kim Kye-young, a former vice president at DK Techin, a Kakao affiliate, as executive vice president and head of its public sector business unit. It said the move aims to strengthen its public-sector AX, or artificial intelligence transformation, business. Kim has worked in IT for 30 years and previously held business leadership roles at Kakao Enterprise and DK Techin.
