Mobile carriers run special communications system for Chuseok holiday traffic surge
South Korea’s three mobile carriers are activating special communications measures ahead of the Chuseok holiday, when traffic is expected to surge. They are checking base station quality at major transport hubs and tourist sites in advance and will use AI-based control and 24-hour monitoring to respond to possible outages. SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus also plan capacity upgrades, stronger security monitoring and early payments to partner companies.

Testing ChatGPT-6 Astra for tedious tasks from train tickets to account deletion
A reporter tested OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra on delayed web chores ranging from an OTT compensation claim and account deletion to bargain shopping and Chuseok train tickets. It could navigate sites, summarise conditions and complete multi-step forms, but logins, phone verification, CAPTCHAs and anti-macro blocks limited hands-free use. It performed well on checking National Assembly schedules and creating a GIF thumbnail, and it helped upload images and captions in a newsroom editing system.

Shinhan Bank opens Patriotism Card pop-up at Yongsan Station, offers preorders for ITZY\'s Yuna card
Shinhan Bank will operate an experiential pop-up store for its Shinhan Patriotism Card aimed at active-duty service members and prospective recruits. The bank said it will run the pop-up from Aug. 14 to 20 at the KTX Yongsan Station concourse. The venue will feature zones for goods, events, preorders for a new card and customization. Visitors can join an event to support military units, and can preorder an ITZY Yuna plate.
