KT said on Sunday it will operate an intensified network management system from Feb. 13 to 22 during the Lunar New Year holiday to provide stable telecommunications services.

KT will conduct advance network checks and 집중 monitoring at about 1,200 locations nationwide where crowds concentrate during the holiday, including airports, KTX stations, areas near highways, terminals and major commercial districts. Centered on the Gwacheon Network Control Center, it will run a 24-hour comprehensive situation room and on-site situation rooms nationwide.

KT has completed advance checks to ensure stable operation of its six-month "customer reward program" offered from February. If wireless internet usage surges in specific regions during the holiday, it will use spare network resources in other regions. Under the program, KT customers receive 100GB of monthly data and, free of charge, 1 of 2 OTT passes including Tving.

KT will also strengthen international communications monitoring to coincide with the Lunar New Year holiday travel season and the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics running through Feb. 22. If issues occur on overseas local networks, it plans to support roaming services by promptly taking rerouting measures.

KT will conduct emergency recovery drills to respond to wildfires and exchange fires, as fires increase due to cold and dry weather. It said the drills are to check response systems and processes if fire-related risks arise.

O Taek-kyun (오택균), head of KT's Network Operations Innovation Division, said, "We will do our utmost so that the public can spend a safe and comfortable holiday through intensified network management that takes into account the customer reward program and the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, and through emergency recovery drills for fire response."
