Naver Cloud to develop 700B cybersecurity AI model, preloads 4,000 GPUs

Naver Cloud said on Sept. 3 its consortium has been selected as the final operator for the government’s specialised AI foundation model project in the cybersecurity field and has begun full-scale development. It preloaded 4,000 B200 GPUs for pretraining ahead of the official start. The consortium will also use 256 government-provided GPUs and an additional 256 H200 GPUs from LG. It plans to develop two 700B MoE security models using HyperCLOVA X and LG AI Research’s EXAONE.

Naver Cloud, SKT face off in cybersecurity AI foundation model bid

South Korea’s government project to develop a cybersecurity-specialised AI foundation model has narrowed to a two-way contest between consortia led by Naver Cloud and SK Telecom, the science ministry said. Naver Cloud set a goal of embedding national cyber security capabilities and formed a broad consortium spanning security firms, demand-side institutions and AI companies. SKT aims to prove an “agentic security service” for enterprise use, linking the model to existing security monitoring systems.

Korea closes call for cybersecurity AI foundation model project; SKT, Naver Cloud in two-horse race

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on Aug. 26 that two consortia led by SK Telecom and Naver Cloud submitted proposals for a project to develop a cybersecurity-specialised AI foundation model. The SKT consortium proposed developing a broad set of models and verifying agentic security services based on the domestic cyber threat environment. The Naver Cloud consortium proposed developing a model to internalise national cybersecurity capabilities. The ministry plans to announce the selected team in early September.
