Russia central bank governor says digital ruble to be unveiled Sept 1
Russia\'s central bank has reaffirmed plans to introduce its central bank digital currency, the digital ruble, on Sept. 1. Governor Elvira Nabiullina said preparations have been completed and the rollout will follow the previously announced schedule. She said all preparations were in place and the digital ruble would complement the existing ruble, with financial and credit institutions handling it first. Legal changes are also due to take effect on the same date.

Korea\'s derivatives market at 30 as trading shifts to overseas and crypto markets
Yoon Sun-jung (윤선중), a professor at Dongguk University, said Korea’s exchange-traded derivatives market faces structural limits and needs regulatory change, citing a sharp drop in trading after 2011 measures raised contract size, margin requirements and mandatory education for retail investors. He said trading shifted to overseas high-risk products and crypto markets. Yoon urged a shift from pre-emptive regulation to tighter monitoring and tougher penalties, easier listings for standardised products and stronger self-regulatory oversight.

White House completes review of rule that could open crypto investing in U.S. 401(k) pensions
The U.S. Labor Department is preparing a regulatory proposal that could allow cryptocurrency investment in 401(k) retirement plans. Cointelegraph reported that the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs has completed its review of the proposal on alternative-asset investing in 401(k) plans. The move follows an executive order signed by President Donald Trump on Aug. 7, 2025, and comes after the Labor Department withdrew 2022 guidance urging caution.
