Asset managers roll out digital-asset ETFs overseas. What about South Korea?
South Korean asset managers are launching exchange-traded funds overseas that highlight stablecoins, tokenisation and bitcoin, while the domestic market has yet to list spot digital-asset ETFs or products branded around such themes. In South Korea, exposure is mainly gained by including related companies in existing overseas equity ETFs. Firms are also expanding digital-asset initiatives, including tokenising ETF products and building blockchain partnerships, as they prepare for possible regulatory changes.

Kakao woos shareholders on spinoff, targets 1 trillion won AI revenue and 300 billion won buyback cancellation
Kakao is seeking to win over retail shareholders ahead of a planned corporate spinoff into continuing company KakaoX and new unit KakaoAI. KakaoAI aims to begin monetising AI services in 2027 and targets more than 1 trillion won in AI revenue by 2030. KakaoX plans to use gains from selling its stake in Dunamu to buy back and cancel 300 billion won of treasury shares over three years after the split.

Ripple’s prime brokerage business, Ripple Prime, is expanding institutional digital-asset infrastructure after the Hidden Road acquisition, but it may not directly translate into higher XRP prices, an analysis said. Ripple bundles prime brokerage, custody, stablecoins and payments, yet XRP is no longer the only core asset in the business. CEO Brad Garlinghouse says XRP remains central. XRP has risen in recent weeks but momentum has eased in September.
