Korea Post issues World Maritime Day commemorative stamps
The Ministry of Science and ICT\'s Korea Post on Sept. 15 issued 496,000 commemorative stamps for World Maritime Day. The day was designated in 1978 by the International Maritime Organization, a U.N. agency, and is observed on the last Thursday of September each year to highlight maritime safety, marine environmental protection and shipping’s role in supporting international trade. The stamp design features Busan Port, the IMO symbol and the South Korean flag.

MSIT speeds up SMR-powered ship development, expands international cooperation
South Korea will expand international cooperation in maritime nuclear power as it targets starting construction of a small modular reactor-powered ship by 2035. The Ministry of Science and ICT said First Vice Minister Ku Hyuk-chae will attend the launch ceremony of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s ATLAS initiative in Washington on Aug. 26-27 as South Korea’s chief representative. ATLAS will discuss safety, security, safeguards, regulation and standards needed to introduce maritime nuclear power.

MSIT releases cybersecurity manuals tailored to ships, space and robots
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on Thursday it developed and will distribute cybersecurity manuals tailored to smart ships, space and robots with the Korea Internet & Security Agency. For ships, it created a security model for IMO autonomous shipping grade 3 and issued shipping-company guidelines with industry participants. For space, it released models for cloud-based satellite ground station services and a 53-item checklist. For robots, it provided type-specific countermeasures aligned with global rules.
