OpenAI launches math and AI advisory group to review research disclosures
OpenAI has created an external advisory group to evaluate its AI-related mathematics research results and discuss how they are disclosed. The move follows concerns in the mathematics community about verification and recognition of researchers’ contributions after OpenAI said its AI solved major unsolved problems. The group, based at Princeton’s Institute for Advanced Study, has 9 mathematicians and will assess significance and coordinate disclosure timing and methods. Members are unpaid and independently managed.

South Korea, France to expand AI, semiconductor and quantum cooperation
South Korea and France are expanding science, technology and digital cooperation focused on AI, semiconductors and quantum technology. South Korea\'s science ministry said the two sides signed an MOU in Paris on Sept. 8 local time during President Lee Jae-myung’s state visit. The agreement details an earlier letter of intent and includes regular meetings, joint research and efforts to identify projects by innovative companies and attract investment for mutual market entry.

Ku Hyeok-chae attends Korea Senior Scientists and Engineers Association 10th anniversary symposium
Ku Hyeok-chae (구혁채), first vice minister at South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT, attended a symposium on March 25 marking the 10th anniversary of the Korea Senior Scientists and Engineers Association. He congratulated the association on its founding. The association, established in 2016, is an incorporated body of retired senior scientists and engineers from academia, research and industry. About 80 senior scientists and engineers from around the country attended.
