South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Research Foundation selected Lee Jong-han (이종한), a professor at Inha University, as the August winner of the Republic of Korea Science and Technology Award. He was recognised for developing live digital twin technology that integrates analysis of material degradation, component damage and structural behaviour in social infrastructure. His team quantified nonlinear concrete deterioration and built tools linking BIM and FEM for integrated management.

The National Information Society Agency (NIA) held an open seminar on Wednesday to discuss legal and institutional responses to AI in healthcare, education and labour. The event in Seoul was part of the Intelligent Information Society Legal and Institutional Forum run with legal, industry, academic and research experts. Participants reviewed AI’s impact on people’s lives, rights and opportunities by sector and discussed reforms, including protections for human dignity and fundamental rights.
