KOSPI slips to 6,700 level despite Samsung Electronics\' 107.4 trillion won operating profit; Kosdaq also weaker
South Korea\'s KOSPI slipped to the 6,700 level in early trade on Oct. 8 despite news that Samsung Electronics\' third-quarter operating profit beat market expectations. The index extended losses as foreigners and institutions were net sellers. Samsung Electronics reported 195 trillion won in quarterly revenue and 107.4 trillion won in operating profit, but its shares fell, while SK Hynix rose. The Kosdaq also declined and the won strengthened against the dollar.

Bithumb releases free \'Bithumb Gothic\' fonts for Hangul Day 100th anniversary
Bithumb will release two versions of its brand-exclusive typeface, \'Bithumb Gothic\', for free to mark the 100th anniversary of Hangul Day. The company said on Oct. 8 that the fonts can be downloaded for free via its corporate website. The release includes Bithumb Gothic Original and Bithumb Gothic Basic. Bithumb said it reflected the stability and reliability it pursues in the design and incorporated employee feedback during development.

SKT develops UX writing guide focused on easy Korean
SK Telecom said on Monday it has developed a UX writing guide ahead of Hangul Day and will apply it in the field. The guide is designed to help customers easily understand text they encounter when using mobile services and naturally move to the next action. SKT set out four principles and recommends everyday expressions over difficult Chinese-derived terms or foreign words. It also introduced a customer emotion map and an AI agent, “Sotongi,” to review and refine wording in real time.
