[Digital Today reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] Hancom said on Wednesday it has launched the “Hancom Typing Pandwijoobgi Nationwide Regional Competition,” pitting users across the country against each other through its Hancom Typing game “Pandwijoobgi.”

The online preliminary round, which marks the start of the competition, will run for 5 months through August. It will proceed by changing the regional theme each month in sequence, starting with Gangwon Province and Jeju Island in April, then Gyeongsang Province in May, Seoul and Gyeonggi Province in June, Jeolla Province in July and Chungcheong Province in August.

The event is built as region-focused content, reflecting not only each city’s name, specialties and tourist attractions but also familiar local dialects in in-game keywords and bonus sentences.

Each month, the top-ranked user in each region will receive real-time ranking exposure and an item exclusive to first place, along with qualification to advance to the final round. They will compete on an offline special stage on Oct. 9, Hangul Day, watched by many spectators, for the title of South Korea’s “typing emperor.”
