Ham Young-joo says banks face crisis and this cannot continue
Hana Financial Group Chairman Ham Young-joo said banks face a crisis and need fundamental change as money moves accelerate. He said household lending has reached its growth limit and that deeper insight is needed in corporate lending and investment. Ham called for stronger wealth management, a shift to specialised organisations for productive finance, and upgrades to screening, risk management and processes in investment banking and corporate finance. He also urged tougher consumer protection, steps to prevent mis-selling and proactive responses to voice phishing, along with stronger internal controls.
