South Korea science ministry seeks five on-device AI pilot projects for public services
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT is inviting proposals until April 30 for five new projects under its on-device AI service demonstration and expansion programme for 2026. Selected projects will receive about 2.9 billion won each over two years. Consortia must include a regional industry promotion agency, AI model and device firms and local governments, and run city-scale pilots in transport and logistics, health and welfare, or disaster and safety.

Autonomous A2Z begins autonomous driverless taxi pilot in Japan
Autonomous A2Z has begun a pilot of an autonomous taxi service in Naruto, Tokushima Prefecture, providing its technology to a project jointly led by Tokushima, NEC and Denno Kotsu. The test runs until March 31 on public roads in western Naruto using a Hyundai Motor Ioniq 5 equipped with a Level 4 autonomous driving system. The service is free on set routes with 27 stops and operates daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Autonomous A2Z says autonomous driving revenue jumps 50 percent
Autonomous A2Z said on Thursday it posted 16 billion won in 2025 revenue, up 50 percent from 10.7 billion won a year earlier, marking its largest annual sales. It cited government and local R&D contracts and pilot projects. The company said it has permits for 81 autonomous vehicles and has operated services across 14 provinces and major cities. It also said it ranked seventh in Guidehouse’s 2025 autonomous driving leaderboard.
