Autonomous A2Z achieved its highest-ever revenue and ranked seventh in a global competitiveness assessment at the same time. AI autonomous driving company Autonomous A2Z said on Jan. 29 it recorded 16 billion won in 2025 revenue. That was up 50 percent from 10.7 billion won the previous year. It posted more than 10 billion won in revenue for a second straight year at a pre-commercialisation stage.

The revenue rise was driven mainly by winning R&D projects from the government and local governments, and carrying out pilot demonstrations and service contracts. The company expects its demonstration and operational experience to lead to faster monetisation when commercialisation begins.

As of December 2025, A2Z had received operating permits for a cumulative 81 autonomous vehicles. It has operated autonomous driving services in 14 provinces and major cities nationwide, the largest in South Korea, accounting for 82 percent of the country’s 17 autonomous driving pilot operation zones. Over the same period, cumulative autonomous driving mileage at home and abroad totalled 934,643 km, equivalent to more than 23 laps around the Earth.

Annual passenger numbers for autonomous vehicles totalled 114,681. It secured around 20,000 users each in major pilot areas including Anyang (day and night), Sejong (balanced development), Seoul (Dawn Companion and Cheonggyecheon) and Incheon Airport. A rural autonomous bus operating in Hadong, South Gyeongsang Province recorded about 10,000 passengers.

Demonstration operations of the Level 4 robo-shuttle ROii also gathered pace. ROii, deployed at the APEC 2025 site in Gyeongju, ran a loop around the Bomun tourism complex through December, with 3,774 users in total. In Seoul’s Cheonggyecheon area, 3,911 people rode the service, bringing the combined number of domestic and overseas users in the two areas to 7,685 over about three months. In a user satisfaction survey, more than 83 percent gave a positive assessment.

A2Z ranked seventh worldwide in the "2025 Autonomous Driving Leaderboard" released by global market research firm Guidehouse. Guidehouse cited its APEC 2025 deployment performance as a key factor. It gave high marks to the company’s independent market entry strategy focused on public transport, real-world driving experience based on cooperation with government and public institutions, and global expansion potential. In the strategy category, it was ranked fifth worldwide.

It also became the first South Korean company to obtain an autonomous driving licence in Singapore and, working with Grab, started Singapore’s first public-road autonomous shuttle service. In the UAE, it set up the first UAE autonomous driving joint venture by a South Korean company with local AI firm Space42. In Japan, it signed an MOU with trading company Kanematsu, expanding its overseas business base in a way it said is unmatched among South Korean autonomous driving companies.

Chief executive Han Ji-hyung (한지형) said, "2025 was a year in which we were verified for both our technological capabilities and our ability to execute business through government R&D and domestic and overseas pilot projects at a pre-commercialisation stage." Han added, "Based on driving data proven by recognised evaluations and figures and global business experience, we will lead the advancement and commercialisation of autonomous driving that will be key in the era of physical AI."
