HP pushes AI workstations to cut cloud reliance, expand local computing
HP is positioning so-called agentic AI as a core element of the next workplace and is expanding related hardware and on-device software. The company unveiled new AI PCs and workstation products in Seoul, along with its on-device AI platform, HP IQ. HP said the shift toward AI that understands and executes tasks increases demand for local computing, reducing cloud reliance while strengthening security and performance.

HP Korea appoints Kang Yong-nam as new chief
HP Korea said on Tuesday it has appointed Kang Yong-nam as its new CEO. Kang will oversee HP Korea’s business, with plans to strengthen competitiveness across corporate and consumer markets centered on AI-based PCs and next-generation printing solutions. The company also plans to pursue an integrated solutions strategy aimed at improving productivity and security as AI and cloud-based work environments accelerate. Kang has more than 25 years of experience in the global IT industry.

HP sees gaming PC market share rising to 40 percent by 2028
HP is integrating its OMEN and HyperX gaming brands into a single system led by HyperX, aiming to build a consistent ecosystem spanning PC hardware and peripherals. HP Korea held its first briefing since the integration to unveil new products and its gaming strategy. The 2026 lineup focuses on boosting CPU power and expanding OLED display options. HP expects gaming PCs to rise from about 30 percent of the consumer PC market to 40 percent by 2028.
