Crowdworks joins shipbuilding AI foundation model project
AI technology company Crowdworks said on April 14 it has joined a consortium led by the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) and was selected as a participating organisation for a project to develop a large-scale industrial AI system for shipbuilding. The initiative is backed by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP). The 40.3 billion won project runs through 2030.

Ecopro HN develops large ammonia ship emissions cleaning system
Ecopro HN said it has secured a key technology for commercialising ammonia-powered ships after developing a megawatt-class ammonia engine emissions purification system with HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering and the Korean Register. It said the system uses microwave heating to directly heat the catalyst and precisely control activation temperature, helping minimise fuel consumption and avoid installing separate devices for fossil fuels. The company plans further verification and commercialisation.

Siemens to provide Xcelerator for HD Hyundai integrated digital shipbuilding platform
Siemens said on Feb. 19 that HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has chosen it as the preferred partner for building an integrated digital shipbuilding platform for HD Hyundai. The platform is designed to manage the entire shipbuilding process through a single data flow and support consistency across HD Hyundai shipyards worldwide. The company said it will underpin HD Hyundai’s Future of Shipyard project targeted for completion in 2030.
