Siemens said on Feb. 19 that HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSEO), an intermediate holding company of HD Hyundai, has selected Siemens as the preferred partner for building an integrated platform.

The integrated platform is expected to support consistency across HD Hyundai shipyards worldwide by managing the entire shipbuilding process through a single data flow.

The company said it will serve as a key foundation for HD Hyundai’s future-oriented shipyard construction project, the Future of Shipyard, which it is pushing with a target completion date of 2030. HD Hyundai aims to use the integrated platform to strengthen collaboration between engineering and manufacturing and build a foundation to carry out increasingly complex shipbuilding projects in a stable manner.

Lee Tae-jin (이태진), executive director of HD Hyundai’s Digital Innovation Office, said, "The adoption of Siemens Xcelerator is an important milestone that takes HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering’s digital shipbuilding strategy to the next level." He said, "By building an integrated digital platform that ensures consistency from design to production, we want to overcome the long-standing problem of data disconnection and create a more systematic, collaboration-centered shipbuilding environment. Through this, we will strengthen operational efficiency, quality and competitiveness across shipyards worldwide, while enhancing our capability to execute highly complex projects."
