Broadcast Media Telecommunications Commission accepts applications for 2027-2028 public interest and disability welfare channels
South Korea\'s Broadcast Media Telecommunications Commission is starting procedures to select public interest channels and recognise disability welfare channels for 2027-2028. It will accept applications from programme providers until Sept. 30. Selected and recognised channels will be valid from April 1, 2027 to March 31, 2029. Pay-TV operators must carry at least one channel in each category. The commission will hold a briefing on Aug. 25 and review applications through an expert panel.

KB Financial Welfare Foundation signs scholarship support deal with justice ministry for children of fallen or injured civil servants
KB Financial Welfare Foundation said on Sunday it signed an agreement with South Korea\'s Ministry of Justice to support scholarships and tailored financial education for children of ministry officials who died or were injured in the line of duty. The foundation plans continuous support from the first year of middle school through high school graduation. The deal also includes financial education for ministry members and people protected in detention facilities.

BMC practises neighbourly love with traditional market goods ahead of Lunar New Year
South Korea\'s Broadcasting and Media Communications Commission said on Thursday that Chairman Kim Jong-cheol (김종철) and staff visited Bakdal Market in Anyang, Gyeonggi province, bought farm and livestock products and delivered them to a children\'s welfare facility, Anyang\'s House. The commission said the donation was funded by voluntary monthly contributions from staff. It said it has also continued other social contribution activities, including support for single-parent families and coal briquette donations.
