KB Financial Welfare Foundation said on March 23 it signed an agreement with the Ministry of Justice at the Gwacheon Government Complex to support scholarships for children of fallen or injured civil servants and to provide tailored financial education.

The agreement was arranged to support correctional, probation and immigration officials at the ministry and their families who have devoted themselves to the national legal order and public safety.

Justice Minister Sung-ho Chung (정성호) and KB Financial Welfare Foundation Chairman Jong-hee Yang (양종희) attended the signing ceremony. They discussed ways to cooperate to honour officials who died or were injured in the line of duty and to support stable conditions for their children's studies.

Key measures include scholarships for children of fallen or injured officials (1.5 million won a year for middle school students and 2 million won a year for high school students). The deal also provides tailored financial education for ministry members and people under protection in detention facilities.

The foundation plans to run the scholarship programme by providing continuous support from the first year of middle school through high school graduation. It aims to go beyond one-off assistance and build a sustained foundation for studies and career paths.

It also plans to provide education to boost financial literacy to support rational economic life and strengthen self-reliance.

Chung said the agreement would raise social respect for officials and their families who have devoted themselves to public safety and would serve as a cooperation model in which the public and private sectors share responsibility. He said cooperation would be expanded further in areas directly linked to people's lives.

Yang said public safety is maintained through the dedication of officials who fulfil their responsibilities in the field. He said the foundation would continue to play a responsible role, focusing on scholarships and financial education, so that gratitude for that dedication can lead to tangible rewards.
