Big tech steps up push into physical AI

Big tech companies are moving faster into so-called physical AI that applies AI in the real world, including robots, cars and drones, as they seek to secure an early lead in a market seen as smaller than chatbots for now but with high potential. AI agents use more AI tokens than people as agentic AI shifts accelerate

An analysis shows AI agents consume more AI tokens than people, an irony that highlights the rise of agentic AI. Andreessen Horowitz shared trends in finance and technology, citing OpenRouter data showing bots use nearly five times more tokens than people and bot token use has risen about 14-fold since February. It said most agent tokens come from cached prompts, lowering costs but boosting memory needs. It also flagged rising AI use in legal work and shifting demand for automation tools.

Google Cloud expands industry-specific AI, launches Gemini Enterprise for finance and legal sectors

Google Cloud said on Aug. 25 it will launch packaged versions of Gemini Enterprise tailored to financial services and the legal industry. The products are the first in an industry-specific solution series built on the Gemini Enterprise platform and will be offered in preview to Google Cloud customers worldwide. The company said the solutions can be used immediately and include custom agents, specialist skills, data connectors and industry-optimised AI models, backed by enterprise-grade security, governance, compliance and cost controls.
