Why Jensen Huang went to Japan as ultra-large alliance to reshape AI leadership begins
Nvidia has forged a cooperation framework in Japan spanning national AI infrastructure, robotics and automobiles, linking the government and key manufacturers. CEO Jensen Huang visited Tokyo to confirm multiple projects connected to Japan’s physical AI strategy, including support for the state-backed AI developer Noetra. Nvidia plans to build a Vera Rubin AI Factory by 2028. Japanese firms will develop robotics based on Nvidia’s Cosmos model, while Toyota expands use of Nvidia technology across vehicles and production.

Fujitsu will work with FANUC, Yaskawa Electric and Kawasaki Heavy Industries to build a next-generation robot control platform using Nvidia physical AI technology. The goal is a common control foundation that lets multiple robots operate and make decisions together in factories, logistics sites and healthcare settings. The companies have begun studying a joint business for social application of physical AI, using Nvidia platforms such as Cosmos, Omniverse, Isaac and Newton.

Japan AI latecomer starts counterattack with Nvidia, SoftBank, Microsoft big tech alliance
Japanese companies are expanding cooperation with global big tech to strengthen artificial intelligence competitiveness. Station Ai is running an AI Boost Program with SoftBank and Nvidia to support five startups, offering free access to high-performance GPUs and engineering help. Microsoft plans to invest 1.6 trillion yen in Japan from 2026 to 2029. SoftBank, NEC, Honda and Sony Group will set up a joint venture to develop foundation models, while the government plans 1 trillion yen in support.
