Microsoft said on July 2 it will set up a dedicated organisation, Microsoft Frontier Co, to support corporate AI adoption and invest $2.5 billion. The unit will be staffed by 6,000 employees deployed directly to customer sites, including existing field engineers, technical consultants, support staff and industry sales. AWS announced a $1 billion FDE organisation, while OpenAI and Anthropic also formed teams. Google is hiring hundreds of FDEs.

AWS to launch forward deployed engineering unit with $1 billion investment
Amazon Web Services will set up a dedicated unit that will be deployed directly at corporate customer sites to help spread agent AI, SiliconANGLE reported on Monday. AWS will invest $1 billion to establish a Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) division that will dispatch small teams of specialists to support AI agent adoption. The unit will cover agent customization, system integration and employee training, AWS executives said.

OpenAI holds first exec summit in South Korea, moves to expand enterprise business
OpenAI held its first corporate leadership event in South Korea on May 27, bringing together about 130 business and technology executives from major local companies to discuss ways to apply enterprise AI, the company said on May 29. Executives including Jason Kwon, Ashley Kramer and OpenAI Korea head Kyung-hoon Kim attended. OpenAI said weekly active users of ChatGPT Codex in South Korea were up tenfold from early this year.
