FSS to overhaul financial investment ad rules; ETF, high-risk product YouTube ads to face review
South Korea\'s Financial Supervisory Service will revamp procedures for financial investment advertisements to curb false and exaggerated claims as competition intensifies for products such as exchange-traded funds. The overhaul covers ad production, screening and post-management at securities firms. New listings of ETFs and high-risk products posted on firms\' own YouTube channels are expected to be added to the Korea Financial Investment Association\'s review scope. The regulator and the association plan to complete rule revisions by mid-October and implement them in January 2027.

Pinda has conducted compliance training for all employees to strengthen its ability to respond to compliance risks and improve understanding of key financial regulations, including MyData and the Financial Consumer Protection Act. The company said the first-half 2026 programme covered obligations for MyData operators, personal credit information protection and conflict-of-interest prevention. It also addressed rules on advertising, solicitation and brokerage, and requirements for loan brokerage businesses, alongside supervisory trends and sanction cases.

South Korea\'s Financial Supervisory Service is expanding its inspection of Mirae Asset Securities over a SpaceX IPO subscription that ended with a final allocation of zero shares. The review, initially focused on professional investor registration, is widening to include investor protection and internal controls. The watchdog is checking the full process from subscription to failed allocation, including investor notifications, subscription solicitation and marketing. Complaints have also been filed with the regulator.
