Turning off Gemini also disables features, prompting criticism of Google over forced AI

Google has designed Workspace so that disabling Gemini also blocks existing convenience features such as Gmail inbox prioritisation and spelling checks, prompting criticism that it unfairly restricts user choice to expand AI adoption. Users must navigate multiple settings in the Gmail web client to turn off smart features, which are linked across Workspace. Turning them off can also disable desktop alerts, delivery tracking and calendar integration, and workplace users may need administrator privileges.

Google cuts Play Store fee to 15 percent, settles five-year dispute with Epic Games

Google has overhauled its commission structure for the Android app marketplace Play Store and formally set out a policy allowing external payments, leading to a settlement ending its legal dispute with Epic Games that has continued since 2020. An executive said in-app payment fees will be cut from 30 percent to a minimum of 15 percent, while subscription fees will fall to 10 percent. The new system will be applied first in the United States, Britain and the EEA.

BitGo expands MiCA-compliant crypto services in Europe

BitGo Europe is expanding its Crypto-as-a-Service offering across the European Economic Area, Cointelegraph reported on March 3. The expansion makes BitGo’s API-based infrastructure available in 30 EEA countries, allowing financial institutions to embed wallets, onboarding and payment services into their platforms. The service includes multi-asset wallets and SEPA fiat rails. BitGo offers insurance of up to $250 million for custody wallets and provides policy controls and 24/7 operational support.
