The European Union is reviewing its Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) rulebook and is leaving open the possibility of follow-up legislation, an adviser to the European Commission said at Paris Blockchain Week 2026. The aim is to check whether the framework can keep up with market change, not because it has failed. MiCA includes a review clause requiring the Commission to report by June 30, 2027, and propose legislation if needed.

France plans to shift government computers from Microsoft Windows to the open-source operating system Linux, aiming to reduce reliance on U.S. technology. Digital Affairs Minister David Amiel said the government can no longer accept a situation where it lacks control over data and digital infrastructure. The government has not disclosed the timetable or which Linux distributions it is considering. Microsoft did not immediately respond.
