The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has submitted to the European Commission recommendations to amend the crypto-asset regulation MiCA.
A recent Cointelegraph report said the recommendations include designating companies that provide access services to DeFi protocols as newly regulated entities. It also calls for clearer disclosure and regulatory compliance requirements for staking and crypto lending and borrowing services.
The recommendations also include a proposal to stop trading platforms subject to MiCA rules from offering stablecoin-related services that do not meet MiCA requirements. Supervisory powers over offshore platforms operating without authorisation would also be strengthened.
The recommendations were made during a review stage of MiCA. They have not been finalised as formal rules.
