Meta floats VR glasses instead of headsets. Can they help mainstream VR?

Meta’s glasses-style VR device, Meta VR Glasses, is drawing attention as an alternative that could reduce the limits of goggle-type VR headsets and transparent AR glasses. The Verge said it is close to a first design that could persuade mainstream users to embrace VR again. The device combines a passthrough display with direct peripheral vision, weighs about 100 grams and costs $1,299. It also offers a 70 by 66 degree field of view and 37 ppd resolution.

Mastercard to launch AI agent payments this week in partnership with Alchemy

Mastercard will launch a service this week with startup Alchemy that uses AI agents for everyday payments, the Wall Street Journal reported. Alchemy helps users have an AI bot issue a virtual card and set spending limits and purchasable product categories in advance. Mastercard and Alchemy said cardholder approvals can be handled in multiple steps, including pre-set conditions or reconfirmation before payment. Executives cite trust as a key barrier.

Nvidia to invest $3.5 billion in MediaTek, reshaping AI chip market

Nvidia has bought $3.5 billion worth of convertible bonds issued by Taiwan chipmaker MediaTek, expanding cooperation on AI semiconductors. MediaTek plans to adopt Nvidia\'s NVLink Fusion to link customised AI chips to Nvidia-based data centres. The companies said they will broaden collaboration in AI infrastructure, local AI computing and automotive. MediaTek is targeting $2.0 billion in revenue from its data-centre chip design business this year.
