Trump may allow Chinese EVs in U.S. ahead of Xi talks, amid market-opening rumors
Rumors are circulating that U.S. President Donald Trump could allow Chinese-made electric vehicles to be sold in the United States as part of negotiations with China, Democratic Senator Elissa Slotkin said. She cited an expected Washington meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping within weeks and called the idea a strategic mistake that could harm Michigan’s auto industry and 1,200,000 related jobs. Slotkin did not identify the source, and the White House has announced no plan to lower barriers.
