Guhyeok-chae attends quantum strategic technology forum, vows to detail medium-to-long-term strategy

Guhyeok-chae (구혁채), first vice minister at the Ministry of Science and ICT, discussed a medium- to long-term development strategy for quantum technology with representatives from industry, academia and research. He attended the 2026 Quantum National Strategic Technology National Assembly Policy Forum held on Sept. 9 at the National Assembly Museum. The forum followed the government’s selection last month of quantum as a next-generation frontier field under its seven SEED future growth engines.

Former SEC official calls quantum computers a ticking time bomb for cryptocurrencies

John Reed Stark, a former U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement lawyer, warned that fast advances in quantum computing are bringing a deadline for the cryptocurrency industry. He said the broader financial sector, including long-term Bitcoin holders, must take quantum risk seriously. Stark cited comments from IBM CEO Arvind Krishna and Duke University’s Lee Reiners, and criticised the SEC for not responding properly to the risk.
