DeepSeek halts second fundraising after leak of founder\'s private remarks

China AI company DeepSeek has temporarily halted its second fundraising round after private remarks by founder Liang Wenfeng spread outside the company. The firm told some investors it would not proceed with contract signings for the time being, a blockchain outlet reported. DeepSeek had moved to a follow-on round only weeks after completing a first raise in June, seeking at least 10 billion yuan and valuing the company at at least 480 billion yuan.

DeepSeek founder says China can end Nvidia dependence within a year

DeepSeek founder Liang Wenfeng said China’s AI industry is reaching a turning point in its dependence on Nvidia hardware and that chip supply will no longer be a key obstacle within a year. He cited a resource gap with the United States driven by computing power constraints. He said DeepSeek lags U.S. leaders by 12 to 18 months but achieves similar performance with far less computing. DeepSeek is working more closely with Huawei and pursuing its own chips and software tools.

White House official targets China\'s Moonshot AI over Kimi K3, alleges copying of Anthropic\'s Fable

A senior White House technology official criticised Chinese startup Moonshot AI, alleging it illegally copied Anthropic’s Fable model to develop its new AI model, Kimi K3, as Moonshot prepares for a public release. Michael Kratsios said Moonshot built internal systems to conduct large-scale extraction and repeatedly changed access routes to avoid tracking. He also alleged Moonshot used Nvidia GB300 servers and carried out industrial-scale, covert distillation.
