Can the iPhone 17 Pro take better photos than a DSLR?
A comparison test found Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro camera can show performance similar to a professional DSLR in some scenes thanks to software processing. In shots against a Canon R6 II, the iPhone produced brighter, sharper tones using HDR and colour correction, while the DSLR delivered more realistic shadows and stronger colour and detail. The iPhone was faster for immediate output, but DSLR advantages remained in sensor size, lens choice and post-processing flexibility.

iPhone 18 Pro may add DSLR-like features, camera upgrade signaled
Apple is reported to be considering a variable-aperture camera and a teleconverter for telephoto shooting on the iPhone 18 Pro. A leaked account said the variable-aperture camera is at the engineering-sample stage and that Apple is reviewing a teleconverter. The optical accessory, common in DSLR cameras, could improve medium- and long-range image quality and, combined with a variable aperture, help manage light loss, exposure and depth of field. Some features may be dropped before mass production.

Nikon steps up APS-C lineup as demand outpaces full frame
Nikon has indicated demand for APS-C cameras is outpacing full-frame models, drawing attention to the possibility that its future new-product strategy could be reorganised around APS-C. Nikon said market trends show APS-C products gaining popularity over full-size offerings. Analysts point to APS-C advantages in size, weight and price, while noting image-quality limits versus full frame. Nikon has several APS-C mirrorless models but no flagship, prompting speculation about higher-end and entry-level successors. Canon and Sony are also expanding APS-C offerings.
