Mirrorless seen as better than DSLR for first interchangeable-lens camera
An analysis says consumers buying their first interchangeable-lens camera may be better off choosing mirrorless models rather than DSLRs, as most new autofocus, video and lens development is focused on mirrorless systems. Engadget said mirrorless lineups now span entry-level APS-C to professional full-frame models, making them a simpler choice for many beginners. DSLRs still offer longer battery life and can match image quality, while existing DSLR users may have less reason to switch.

iPhone 18 Pro tipped for biggest-ever camera overhaul; more changes in focus
Apple\'s next iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max may adopt the largest camera hardware upgrade in the lineup\'s history, reports said, alongside a push to strengthen AI-based camera functions. Bloomberg\'s Mark Gurman said some of the biggest camera hardware upgrades would be included. A comparison test found Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro camera can show performance similar to a professional DSLR in some scenes thanks to software processing. In shots against a Canon R6 II, the iPhone produced brighter, sharper tones using HDR and colour correction, while the DSLR delivered more realistic shadows and stronger colour and detail. The iPhone was faster for immediate output, but DSLR advantages remained in sensor size, lens choice and post-processing flexibility.
