Apple is reported to be considering a variable-aperture camera and a teleconverter for telephoto shooting on the iPhone 18 Pro. A leaked account said the variable-aperture camera is at the engineering-sample stage and that Apple is reviewing a teleconverter. The optical accessory, common in DSLR cameras, could improve medium- and long-range image quality and, combined with a variable aperture, help manage light loss, exposure and depth of field. Some features may be dropped before mass production.

Nikon has indicated demand for APS-C cameras is outpacing full-frame models, drawing attention to the possibility that its future new-product strategy could be reorganised around APS-C.
