A new analysis says President Donald Trump\'s push to shift technology product manufacturing entirely to the United States would require major investment and labour. The Consumer Technology Association estimated that relocating full supply chains for 10 widely used products could require $185 billion to $230 billion in capital spending, 555,000 to 668,000 additional full-time workers and up to 19.5 billion kWh a year in power. It said smartphone production costs could rise 152 percent, with consumer prices also likely to increase.

U.S. Clarity Act heads to Senate in July as Lummis and JPMorgan CEO Dimon clash
U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis said the Senate will begin debating the digital asset market structure bill known as the Clarity Act in July, the first time the lead sponsor has publicly specified timing. She urged JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon to review the bill during the July 4 recess. The bill faces limited floor time, a 60-vote threshold and Democratic concerns over ethics language tied to the Trump family’s crypto holdings and an exemption in Section 604.

Tech group including Amazon, Apple and Google urges U.S. Senate to pass Clarity Act
The U.S. Consumer Technology Association (CTA), whose members include Amazon, Apple and Google, urged the U.S. Senate to quickly pass the Clarity Act, a digital asset market structure bill. Senator Cynthia Lummis publicly backed the measure, saying developers should not need lawyers to determine whether their code is legal. The bill would divide oversight between the SEC and CFTC, set standards for tokens and include protections for open-source developers and self-custody providers.
