Samsung SDI improves battery performance with gel polymer electrolyte
Samsung SDI said on Sunday it developed a technology that improves both the lifespan and safety of lithium metal batteries, working with Columbia University. It said a fluorine-based gel polymer electrolyte forms a stable interface on the anode surface and effectively suppresses dendrites that degrade performance. The company said lithium metal batteries have 1.6 times the energy density of ternary batteries but have faced limits to commercialisation due to short cycle life.

CertiK officially signals intent to pursue IPO
CertiK, a blockchain smart contract security auditing firm, is pursuing an initial public offering, co-founder Ronghui Gu said. He said there is no specific plan yet but the IPO is a clear objective. The interview took place during the World Economic Forum in Davos. Founded in New York in 2018, CertiK has more than 5,000 clients, The Block reported.

Deepgram raises $130 million in Series C, expands into drive-thru
Real-time voice AI startup Deepgram raised $130 million in a Series C funding round and will acquire voice AI startup OfOne, SiliconANGLE reported. The round was led by AVP with participation from investors including Alkeon, In-Q-Tel, Madrona, Tiger, Wing and Y Combinator, plus Columbia University, Twilio, SAP and Princeville Capital. The financing valued Deepgram at $1.3 billion. Deepgram said the OfOne deal will help it expand into restaurant and drive-thru markets.
