CertiK, a blockchain smart contract security auditing firm, is pushing ahead with an initial public offering, co-founder Ronghui Gu (롱후이 구) said.

A report by The Block on Jan. 23 said Gu said there was no detailed plan yet, but that an IPO was certainly an objective. Gu is also an associate professor of computer science at Columbia University, and the interview was conducted during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Founded in New York in 2018, CertiK specialises in auditing smart contracts for cryptocurrency projects and blockchain platforms and has secured more than 5,000 clients so far. The Block reported that the assets backed by code audited by CertiK total about $600 billion.

CertiK was previously valued at $2 billion through an $88 million Series B3 funding round in 2022.

Gu said few Web3 infrastructure companies are pursuing listings, adding that a CertiK IPO could be a turning point for the industry. He said the goal is to become the first listed cyber security company in Web3.
