Why AI model Jev that judges and decides instead of chatting is drawing attention

TypeSafe AI, founded by former OpenAI staff, has released Jev, an AI model it calls a System 1 model. Unlike traditional large language models, Jev does not generate text and instead makes decisions in workflows. Daniel Shea and Seán Roche of LangChain published an analysis focusing on agent evaluation. In tests, Jev matched human scores in 500 of 500 judgments and showed the smallest score variance, while also running faster and cheaper than other models.

Xiaomi research team unveils \'HarnesX\' auto-evolution framework for AI agent harnesses

A Xiaomi research team has unveiled \'HarnesX,\' a framework that automatically improves AI agent harnesses without changing the underlying model, VentureBeat reported. A harness links large language models to external environments and includes prompts, tools, memory management and execution flow. HarnesX uses a modular design and an AEGIS optimisation engine. In tests across 15 model-benchmark combinations, it improved performance in 14, averaging a 14.5 percent gain.

Chinese AI models overtake U.S. in token usage, DeepSeek V4 ranks No. 1

Chinese AI models have pulled well ahead of U.S. models in token usage, NDTV Profit reported, citing OpenRouter data. OpenRouter said Chinese models have surpassed U.S. models in token consumption so far this year. NDTV Profit said efficient model design let Chinese AI research companies set lower token prices than leading U.S. firms. DeepSeek V4 Flash led with 4.63 trillion tokens, and only Anthropic appeared among the top five models.
