Smilegate CVO Kwon Hyuk-bin\'s spouse also appeals in dispute over founding and management contribution
The spouse of Smilegate founder and Chief Vision Officer Kwon Hyuk-bin (권혁빈) has appealed a first-instance ruling in their divorce and property division case. Her side said the appeal seeks a reassessment of her contribution to establishing and running Smilegate, disputing claims she did not invest or take part in management. The court previously set contribution at 35% for her and 65% for Kwon, ordering a split of 35% of Smilegate shares in kind and a 65 billion won cash payment.

Kwon Hyuk-bin, founder and chief vision officer of Smilegate, has appealed a first-instance ruling in his divorce and asset division case with his spouse, identified only as Lee. Kwon’s side said efforts to maintain the marriage were not sufficiently reflected and it was difficult to accept an order to split 35 percent of Smilegate shares in kind. The Seoul Family Court had also ordered a cash payment of 65 billion won and rejected Lee’s claim for consolation money.

Court grants Kwon Hyuk-bin divorce, orders in-kind split of 35 percent of Smilegate shares
A Seoul family court granted the divorce of Smilegate founder and chief vision officer Kwon Hyuk-bin (권혁빈) and his spouse Lee (이모씨), accepting the divorce claim at first instance. The court set Lee’s contribution to the couple’s assets at 35 percent and ordered an in-kind division of 35 percent of Smilegate-related shares. It also ordered Kwon to pay 65 billion won in cash for the shortfall and interest for late payment.
