Ethereum launches public testnet for next \'Glamsterdam\' upgrade

Ethereum has launched the Platåberget public testnet to verify its next upgrade, dubbed Glamsterdam. The testnet is intended as an early testing venue in a public setting to check how Ethereum operates after the upgrade. The Ethereum Foundation introduced Platåberget as an initial testing space, with a testnet fork scheduled for Aug. 20. Key items include ePBS, gas repricing, Block-Level Access Lists and a new builder API flow.

NIPA overhauls public SW procurement training to boost AI practical skills

The National IT Industry Promotion Agency has overhauled its training programme for officials in charge of ordering public software projects to strengthen their ability to plan and manage AI-related work. The revamped course, run with the Ministry of Science and ICT, began operating on July 27. The programme is reorganised into basic, advanced and professional levels and is offered free of charge online and through on-site visits.

Ransomware targeting AI models emerges, encrypting training weights and raising recovery cost concerns

U.S. security firm Sysdig said the same attacker breached an internet-exposed Langflow server twice, using AI-focused ransomware called ENCFORGE in the second attack. The intrusions exploited a Langflow authentication bypass flaw to run arbitrary Python code and later evolved to encrypt AI assets. ENCFORGE selectively encrypts model checkpoints, vector indexes and training data. Sysdig estimated rebuilding a fine-tuned production model could cost $75,000 to $500,000.
