AWS launches \'training sessions\' in SageMaker for custom AI agent training

Amazon Web Services has launched a \'training sessions\' feature in its Amazon SageMaker AI machine-learning platform, VentureBeat reported. The tool lets developers design training procedures and set success criteria while AWS allocates compute resources, coordinates processors, handles recovery and saves progress. It adds finer programming control to a serverless approach. Billing is based on processed tokens, with no charges during customer evaluation. Four models are supported, and data remains in customers\' S3 storage.

Anthropic and OpenAI are seeking ways to station external safety evaluators inside their companies to continuously verify the development process and safety of frontier AI models. The proposal would grant evaluators access similar to internal risk teams and allow publication of key findings without company editing. Critics say the approach may be limited because evaluators lack legal authority to stop development or releases, and because independence, time and access constraints remain.

Ethereum launches public testnet for next \'Glamsterdam\' upgrade

Ethereum has launched the Platåberget public testnet to verify its next upgrade, dubbed Glamsterdam. The testnet is intended as an early testing venue in a public setting to check how Ethereum operates after the upgrade. The Ethereum Foundation introduced Platåberget as an initial testing space, with a testnet fork scheduled for Aug. 20. Key items include ePBS, gas repricing, Block-Level Access Lists and a new builder API flow.
