MSIT steps up \'K-Moonshot\' AI drug mission with stakeholder meeting
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT held a meeting on Sunday at Catholic University to collect opinions on the K-Moonshot AI drug mission. The event brought together experts from industry, academia, research institutes and hospitals to share the project direction ahead of its full rollout. The national R&D project aims to apply AI across drug development, including candidate discovery, drug design and efficacy and toxicity prediction, shifting to an AI-based design approach.

KAIST develops mRNA platform that works well for ageing and obesity
KAIST said a joint research team developed a new mRNA platform by precisely designing the 5\' untranslated region, a key regulatory area that controls how efficiently proteins are produced. Using integrated analysis of large-scale bioinformatics data, the team identified 5\' UTR sequences that improve protein production across diverse cellular environments. In preclinical ageing and obesity models, an mRNA therapeutic based on the design increased protein production and immune responses compared with existing approaches.

Employment rate for people in their 20s falls for first time in 5 years, jobs also drop
South Korea’s employment rate for people in their 20s fell to 60.2 percent in 2025, down 0.8 percentage point from 2024, marking the first annual decline in five years. The number of employed people in that age group slid 170,000 to 3,442,000, extending a three-year streak of declines. The number classified as “resting” rose to 408,000, the highest in five years, and its share reached a record 7.1 percent.
