Bizplay, a Webcash affiliate, has built an electronic receipt system that integrates expense documentation processing for The Catholic University of Korea Catholic Medical Center (CMC) and a total of 10 institutions, including affiliated hospitals.

Bizplay said on Tuesday it completed the build-out of the Catholic Medical Center's electronic receipt system. The project is Bizplay's first electronic receipt implementation at a domestic "Big 5" hospital.

The rollout covers the Catholic Medical Center, The Catholic University of Korea's College of Medicine campus, and eight affiliated hospitals: Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, Yeouido St. Mary's Hospital, Uijeongbu St. Mary's Hospital, Bucheon St. Mary's Hospital, Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital, Incheon St. Mary's Hospital, St. Vincent's Hospital and Daejeon St. Mary's Hospital.

Under the new system, users can handle the full process at once, from collecting key expense documents to preparing vouchers, approvals and storage. It also links internal systems such as the existing management information system and groupware to standardise each institution's documentation procedures.

The system applies artificial intelligence optical character recognition (AI OCR) to paper receipts and invoices.

By linking a clinical research project management system, the electronic documentation framework can also handle documentation and voucher approval tasks generated by clinical research organisations, as well as general administrative organisations.

Bizplay CEO Chang-gyu Seok (석창규) said, "This is the first entry into a domestic Big 5 tertiary general hospital and a case that integrated spending documentation for clinical research organisations into a single system," adding, "We will expand our healthcare-focused electronic documentation business."
