LG Electronics to expand B2B AI home business with GS Engineering & Construction
LG Electronics is expanding its B2B AI home solutions business with GS Engineering & Construction. LG Electronics said it signed an MOU on July 10 in Seoul to jointly develop next-generation AI home technology. The companies plan to link LG’s ThinQ ON AI home hub with appliances, IoT devices and services, integrating them with infrastructure in GS E&C’s Xi residential complexes. They also plan to expand cooperation on future housing robot services.

South Korea launches push to localise \'world model\' core physical AI tech
South Korea is launching a project to develop domestic core technologies for physical artificial intelligence, including high-performance world models and homegrown simulators. The Ministry of Science and ICT and IITP held a kickoff briefing in Seoul on June 9. The programme will link world models, robot foundation models and simulator technology into a single demonstration system. The ministry will invest 34 billion won over two years and targets a 20 percentage-point improvement in robots’ final task success rates.

Forecasts see global shipments rising sharply through 2035, but limited run time makes securing operating hours a key task. Kiwoom Securities says operating environments drive the choice. Korea’s top three battery makers are preparing options including all-solid-state and high-nickel chemistries as demand grows.
