LG Electronics is joining hands with GS Engineering & Construction to expand its B2B AI home solutions business in earnest. LG Electronics said on July 13 it signed a memorandum of understanding with GS E&C on July 10 at the Grand Seoul building in Jongno district, Seoul, to jointly develop next-generation AI homes. Jae-cheol Ryu (류재철), president of LG Electronics, and Yoon-hong Heo (허윤홍), CEO of GS E&C, attended along with executives from both companies.

Under the agreement, LG Electronics plans to implement an integrated residential system by linking an AI home solution centered on the ThinQ ON AI home hub, which connects home appliances, IoT devices and services, with infrastructure in complexes of GS E&C’s housing brand Xi. The structure brings into a single platform control of in-home devices such as lighting, heating and ventilation, as well as complex functions such as calling elevators, checking parking locations and reserving community facilities.

It will also apply a hyper-personalized residential experience in which AI talks with users, understands the living context, and suggests functions or runs them automatically based on individual patterns. The two companies will also expand an MOU signed in April to build a future-oriented residential robot service model. It envisions organically linking robots, AI and space by combining the AI home solution with what was agreed then: setting robot-friendly apartment design standards and implementing complex services based on the home robot LG CLOiD.

LG Electronics plans to continue expanding its push into the B2B market for construction companies, based on its ability to supply built-in home appliances together with AI home solutions.

Ryu said, "By combining LG Electronics’ AI home solution with Xi’s complex infrastructure, we will provide a new residential experience that makes customers’ daily lives more convenient and valuable." He added, "Through cooperation between the two companies, I hope we can create a standard for future housing in which AI, robots and space are in harmony."

Heo said, "The future of housing does not open by simply adding devices, but only when AI and space are integrated into a single living experience." He added, "We will create a new standard for future housing that customers can truly feel."
