Y Combinator urges swift Senate passage of CLARITY bill

U.S. startup accelerator Y Combinator has publicly urged the Senate to pass the CLARITY bill, a digital asset market structure proposal. It said all YC companies would eventually use cryptocurrency technology, including stablecoins, and stressed the need for a regulatory framework. The company described blockchain as an “Internet of Assets” and cited use cases such as cross-border payroll and faster marketplace payouts. The bill would clarify oversight by asset type and includes customer protections.

Kalshi launches XRP perpetual futures trading as U.S. crypto derivatives expand

Prediction market Kalshi has started trading XRP perpetual futures contracts, expanding its so-called American Perpetuals offering for U.S. traders. The launch follows a shift in the U.S. regulatory environment after the Commodity Futures Trading Commission allowed Kalshi to offer its first bitcoin-linked perpetual futures product. Kalshi submitted derivatives tied to 12 major altcoins, including ether, solana, dogecoin and XRP. Trading volume on its crypto perpetuals platform reached $100 million within 24 hours of launch.

U.S. CFTC regulatory retreat under scrutiny as Warren seeks answers on Gemini, Polymarket

U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren pressed the Commodity Futures Trading Commission over what she called a pullback in crypto enforcement and suspected political interference. Warren asked Chairman Michael Selick to explain reduced enforcement, staffing cuts and whether certain firms received favorable treatment. She cited sharp declines in cases and penalties since the Trump administration began, reports of workforce reductions, and approvals involving Polymarket and Gemini. Warren demanded records by June 18.
