Film holdback talks near conclusion as sides clash over period

South Korea\'s government and the film industry are expected to wrap up discussions on movie holdbacks this month and sign a voluntary agreement. The joint public-private body has been discussing distribution reforms and coexistence measures among cinemas, OTT and other platforms. Separately, lawmakers are considering legislation to mandate a six-month holdback after theatrical runs. Consumer groups oppose a uniform period and say their views are not represented in the talks.

S&P 500 and gold surge while bitcoin stays muted, left out of capital inflows

An analysis said that even as U.S. consumer confidence falls to a record low, funds are moving into equities, AI-related shares and commodities, leaving bitcoin largely out of the shift. Glassnode said the stock market keeps setting new highs while gold has climbed sharply, supported by expectations of slower inflation and continued central bank buying. Bitcoin has traded in a narrow range since early August.
