Bitcoin hard fork \'eCash\' draws backlash over plan for estimated Satoshi coins
Bitcoin hard fork project eCash is facing pushback ahead of its planned launch after outlining a structure that would redistribute some coins estimated to have been mined early by Satoshi Nakamoto. LayerTwo Labs CEO Paul Sztorc said the project would create a new chain that mirrors Bitcoin’s transaction history and issue matching tokens to existing holders. He also proposed allocating 600,000 eCash to Satoshi’s side and using 500,000 eCash for a new ecosystem.

Risk assets slide as oil rises; bitcoin pulls back below $80,000
Bitcoin retreated to about $77,600 after failing to break the $80,000 level, down 0.7 percent since midnight UTC, CoinDesk reported. Risk assets weakened as oil rose 1.5 percent to $103 a barrel after reports the United States seized three Iranian tankers in Asian waters. Ether fell 2.5 percent to $2,320. Futures open interest eased but remained high, while negative perpetual funding pointed to bearish leverage.

Rakuten opens XRP payments, linking 44 million users and 5 million merchants
Rakuten, Japan\'s largest e-commerce conglomerate, decided to integrate XRP across its ecosystem, opening a way for about 44 million users in Japan to use XRP for payments and transactions in daily life. Rakuten added XRP as a payment option in its Rakuten Pay app, enabling payments at more than 5 million merchants nationwide. It also supports spot trading via Rakuten Wallet and allows users to buy XRP with Rakuten Points and store assets in the wallet.
