Venture investor Bill Gurley publicly criticises Anthropic, says it seeks to create a being beyond humans
Venture investor Bill Gurley publicly criticised AI company Anthropic, saying it aims to go beyond building high-performance AI and create a being that surpasses humans. He said his view changed after a month of reviewing materials and described what he called a “Frankenstein Theory.” Gurley cited an essay by Anthropic co-founder and CEO Dario Amodei. Anthropic did not issue an official response and has stressed AI safety, including delaying model releases. The debate has drawn other critics as the company begins IPO procedures.
