Bitcoin institutional demand harder to see beyond ETFs as collateral loan risks rise
Risks in the bitcoin market are shifting from spot exchange-traded fund inflows and outflows to forced liquidation zones created by collateralised lending structures, an analysis said. BlackRock says bitcoin spot ETFs hit by AI rally but diversification value remains
BlackRock proposed that financial advisers allocate 1 to 2 percent of portfolios to bitcoin, while acknowledging that recent market flows have been unfavourable for the cryptocurrency. U.S.-listed spot bitcoin ETFs have seen outflows for more than 45 sessions, topping $7.8 billion in total. BlackRock said non-AI assets have lost investor attention as AI momentum absorbs market focus. It also launched a bitcoin options income ETF, BITA, and highlighted fees and asset levels.
