Kazakhstan to exempt personal crypto trading gains from income tax for 3 years
Kazakhstan will exempt individual investors from personal income tax on profits from trading digital assets for three years under a presidential decree signed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The measure, prepared jointly by the AI and Digital Development Ministry, the National Bank and the Astana International Financial Centre, excludes assets linked to fraud, money laundering or unlicensed crypto services. Authorities also outlined steps to manage mining-related power demand and prepare follow-on taxation rules.

Kazakhstan has issued a new decree covering cross-border payments using stablecoins, incentives to move offshore crypto assets into the domestic regulated market, and possible tax breaks for retail investors. The government is considering exempting personal income tax on digital-asset trading profits conducted through its regulated infrastructure. The decree also addresses crypto mining and power policy, allowing certain gas resources to generate electricity for mining. It includes instructions on tokenised financial products and possible tokenised government bonds.

Kazakhstan opens crypto market, issues first exchange licence
Kazakhstan\'s central bank has issued its first licence to operate a cryptocurrency exchange under a revised digital asset legal framework. The initial permit went to local company Pax Finance, allowing nationwide trading and custody beyond Astana\'s special financial zone. The central bank said a licensing regime began on May 1 and reiterated firms must also register with it. Authorities have also tightened enforcement, closing about 130 illegal venues and seizing assets.
