DoorDash CEO says AI agent orders are only in the hundreds, app orders still mainstream
DoorDash has received only a few hundred orders via external AI agents, TechCrunch reported, citing comments made during the company’s third-quarter results call. CEO Tony Xu said agent-based ordering remains a fast-changing area and warned against misconceptions, even as the company does not intend to resist the technology trend. He said most users still place orders through the DoorDash app.

DoorDash releases dd-cli beta ordering tool for AI agents
DoorDash has started a private beta of DoorDash CLI (dd-cli), a developer command-line tool that lets AI agents order food and groceries directly. TechCrunch reported the tool supports store search, checking discounts and completing payments. Co-founder and CTO Andy Fang said on X that the tool is offered via a waitlist to macOS developers in the United States and Canada. DoorDash said developers can integrate ordering and local deals into their own software.

DoorDash launches AI chatbot for ordering with prompts and photos
DoorDash has launched an AI chatbot, Ask DoorDash, that lets users order food, shop for groceries and search for restaurant reservations using text prompts and photos. The feature is designed to return results from natural-language requests instead of having users search and add items manually. It can find ingredients from recipe links and add grocery items and quantities from photos of cookbooks or lists, while also supporting reorder and recommendation tools.
