Amazon Web Services will hold the AI and cloud conference AWS Summit Seoul 2026 on May 20-21 at COEX in Seoul. Marking 20 years since the launch of Amazon S3 and 10 years since opening the Seoul region, AWS will review its past two decades and present a vision for the next 20 years led by agentic AI. The event includes special booths and industry and AI sessions with keynotes by AWS executives and partners.

AI chat windows linking portal search and open markets emerge as new commerce battleground
Generative AI chat windows are emerging as a new shopping battleground alongside search portals and open markets, as companies eye conversational commerce as a channel to drive traffic to their own online stores. Lotte Wellfood has launched a dedicated app for “Apps in ChatGPT,” enabling questions and answers in the ChatGPT chat window. Cafe24 has also released an app linking multiple partner brands. The industry is focusing on purchase links that route users to brand sites to expand traffic and data.

AI adoption: Governance design comes before model selection, Amorepacific architect says
Hwang Tae-jin (황태진), a systems architect leading AI projects at Amorepacific, said many companies see AI initiatives stop after the proof-of-concept stage. He cited three reasons: the pace of technology change, a gap between expectations and workplace reality, and challenges around applying corporate data to AI, including security and cost control. He said Amorepacific designed AI governance before choosing models and now runs three AI agents in production.
